How to choose a website partner (and why it matters)

The questions to ask before you hire an agency to rebuild your most important sales asset.

Ask what happens after launch

Plenty of agencies disappear the moment the site goes live, leaving you with something nobody on your team can maintain or improve. Before you sign anything, ask directly what the relationship looks like in month two — not just launch day.

Check whether they think in pipeline, not pixels

A good partner ties every design decision back to conversion, not just visual polish. If every answer in your discovery call is about aesthetics and none are about your funnel, that's a signal.

Look at how they handle CMS and ownership

You should be able to update your own content without calling the agency for every text change. Ask exactly what you'll be able to edit yourself, and get a straight answer before you commit.

Ask for references that mirror your complexity

A beautiful portfolio of simple marketing sites doesn't tell you much if your product is technical or your buying process is long and considered. Ask for examples closer to your own complexity, not just their prettiest work.
